The Bakfiets Cargobike – Living with the Dutch kid and cargo hauling workhorse in Portland, Oregon, USA.
And one with a power assist – “the rare but growing presence of a certain kind of Dutch workbike (Bakfiets) on the streets of Portland. Want a bike that seats five kids, with weather protection? No problemo.”
The design is not unlike a bike I saw this summer in Bremen, with a seat fitted at the front for a disabled passenger. The sight of a wheelchair-bound user of these cycle routes reminded me of what could be possible with an environmentally-aware disability lobby. Ah well, dream on…
I’d agree with that. I quite often see people on mobility scooters using the Riverside Path cycle route. I would have thought that DAD would be right behind any moves to improve the routes, as they would benefit their members.
I saw a disabled user of the Faverdale Blackpath having to have his friend help him lift his trike over the stupid gates they have fitted along their. If he’d been on his own, he would not be able to access that route.
