After the demise of their family Volvo, Sightline director Alan Durning and his family decided to try living car-free for one year.
In this series on Sightline’s Daily Score blog, Alan explores the benefits and dilemmas that arise from being a car-less family with three kids. And readers from across the region (and other Sightline staffers) are chiming in with their experiences, questions, and tips on living car-lessly.
Living without a car is a wonderful experience!! Especially when you have proper cycle paths/lanes, priority for bicycles and pedestrians and not for cars, a proper developed system of public transport and a car club.
Developed car clubs are great, you don’t have to worry about repairs, insurance, tax or petrol. You can use cars of different sizes depending on what you want to do.
Combining all theses means of transport (foot, bike, bus, taxi, train, car club) is called intelligent mobility.
But you have to do it.
